Redbanks offers a greater range of outdoor activities on a single-site than any other venue in Tasmania.

Take the opportunity to try sports that are new to you in a safe and scenic environment. It’s brought new meaning to the Aussie term, ‘have a go’ as local, interstate and international visitors to Redbanks have shot down clay targets within minutes of holding their first gun, or surprised themselves by landing a trout.

With no licenses required and several Olympic sports on offer, as well as first-class fly fishing and scenic flights, you won’t know where to start!

What is the complete outdoor experience?

Clay Target Shooting

Olympic clay target shooting coach Luca Rossi, teaching at RedbanksYou don’t need a license to shoot a clay target at Redbanks, nor do you need to be an Olympian. But at Redbanks you can experience the thrill of shooting a moving target. Using high quality equipment, your accredited coach will run through a gun handling and safety briefing before handing you the Beretta gun to test your skills.

Small bore rifle shooting

Everyone has fun shooting targetsSmall bore rifle shooting with a .22 calibre rifle will test your hand-eye coordination as you aim for a stationary target 50 metres away! You’ll receive expert coaching with an emphasis on safety before honing in on your target with a steady hand. You may have Olympian accuracy sitting down, but wait until your challenged to shoot standing up!

Fly & lure fishing

Her first fly fishing experienceWhether you are an avid fly fisherman or don’t know the reel from the rod, Redbanks will have you on the lake’s edge . All fishing equipment for lure and fly fishing is provided, or you can bring your own. Expert tuition is available at this ‘catch & release’ fishery,  and if you would like fish for dinner, your prized trout can be purchased to take home.

Archery

Team building with archeryPick up a bow and arrow and you’ll immediately feel connected with your primal roots. While you may not be hunting down dinner, this age-old Olympic sport will test your skill and poise. Quality recurve bows and personal coaching are available for all, as well as children’s equipment and plenty of time to take aim at the bullseye.

Aqua Golf

aqua golfThere’s something liberating about striking a golf ball directly into a lake- actually getting the floating ball to land in line with the targets is another task in itself! Tee off with a pitching wedge and acquire basic advice on grip and swing from your personal coach away from the intimidating greens and sand bunkers of a traditional golf course.

Having fun outdoors with Shot putJust when you thought you’d never hurl another javelin or shot put into the air on a high school sports day, Redbanks awaits with its ample space for you to break some personal athletic records! You’ll be given expert advice on grip and technique, while the distance it sails is up to you.

Sling Shot

Friendly competition, slingshots are more fun than you think!If there’s a little bit of cheeky child left in you, you’ll love loading a sling shot and pull back to release a flying bullet. Deceivingly difficult, it’ll take a little practice before your ears are blessed with the familiar ‘ping’ of making contact with the target, but there’ll be plenty of smiles and laughter while you’re trying.
